Hurghada Limo

Prices, explained

What a taxi really costs in Hurghada

Everyone arriving here asks the same question, and the answer is never a single number. Here is what you actually pay to get from Hurghada Airport to your hotel, how the three ways of getting there compare, and where each one wins. I drive for a living, so you can decide for yourself how much to trust me on the last part.

My prices, per car

One price for the whole car, agreed before you fly. Four people pay what one person pays. Parking, tolls and normal waiting are already in it.

The three ways to get to your hotel

The taxi rank outside arrivals

You agree a price through the window before you get in. Meters are not really used here, so what you pay depends on the hour, on how busy it is, and on how the conversation goes. If you travel light and you do not mind negotiating after a flight, it can be the cheapest way into town.

A ride app on your phone

Uber and inDrive both cover Hurghada. The app shows a price and there is nothing to haggle over, which most visitors prefer. You need a working data connection the moment you land, and the price moves with how many drivers happen to be nearby at that hour.

A driver booked in advance

You agree the price before you leave home and it does not change. I watch your flight, so a delay costs you nothing, and I am standing inside arrivals with your name on a sign. This is what I do, and it costs more than haggling at the rank for a short run into Hurghada.

Why the price is per car

A transfer for one person costs the same as a transfer for four, because you are paying for the car and the driving, not for seats. You never share with strangers, and nobody is added along the way. For a family or two couples travelling together, this is usually where a fixed price stops looking expensive.

What you pay in, and when

At the end of the trip, in the car. Cash or card. US dollars, euros, British pounds or Egyptian pounds, whichever you are carrying. Nothing is taken when you book, and there is no deposit.

The questions I actually get

How much is a taxi from Hurghada Airport to my hotel?

It depends where you are staying. My fixed prices run from 18 dollars for hotels in Hurghada itself up to 130 dollars for Marsa Alam, and every zone in between is in the table above. All per car.

Is it cheaper to just take a taxi when I land?

For a short run into Hurghada, often yes, if you are happy to negotiate. On the longer runs to Soma Bay, Safaga, El Quseir or Marsa Alam, and on any late-night arrival, the gap narrows and a price agreed in advance is usually the calmer answer. I would rather say that than pretend otherwise.

Can I pay in euros or pounds?

Yes. US dollars, euros, British pounds and Egyptian pounds are all fine, in cash or by card, at the end of the trip.

Do I have to pay a deposit to book?

No. You book, I confirm on WhatsApp, and you pay when the trip is done.
